Microsoft’s distinguished engineer Eric Traut talked about upcoming Windows 7 operating system at University of Illinois. He admits:-

A lot of people think of Windows as this really large, bloated operating system and that’s maybe a fair characterization, I have to admit. It is large. It contains a lot of stuff in it, but at its core, the kernel and the components that make up the very core of the operating system actually are pretty streamlined.”

Glad to see Microsoft stepping up for a diet :)

On the lines of the USA controlled GPS, Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) is developing a region specific satellite navigation system. The project is estimated to cost Rs.1600 Crores. This system is named as Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS).

The ISRO Satellite data can be used free for civilian purposes like – Agriculture, Vehicular navigation, Civil Aviation and fisheries. The project consists of 4 geo-stationary satellites and 3 in Geo synchronous orbits. The whole system will be completely operational by 2011-2012.

For the first time, I’m happy that I’m paying taxes!
