My Android Phone – HTC G1

Here is my (not-so) shiny new toy!. An HTC G1 – The official Google Android Developer Phone 1. She just arrived today via UPS international courier. I had some difficulty connecting to the Google Servers during the initial registration process. But after editing the Airtel APN settings manually and deleting other pre-installed APNs I could connect. I shall post a detailed review later. I am really interested to know about other Android Phone Owners/Developers in India/elsewhere. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments :)

@Umesh: You need to unlock your G1 – unless you bought the new Android Developer Phone 1(Already unlocked and rooted as mine) – which I don’t think is yours; as you bought from Frisco.
You can refer to the XDA-Developers forum to see how to unlock the G1 for other networks.

Could you guys please provide me a working config for BSNL(south zone) or Airtel GPRS.

Hello Siddharth,

I am in south zone, you can find the settings I used – http://www.blog.arunns.com/ . It works perfectly with an airtel connection. Just make sure that you have proper MNC settings ;)

Hi everyone,
I have an HTC G1 which is unlocked, but the problem is that I am unable to get the settings for GPRS and cannot connect to google to register.
Can anybody provide me with the GPRS settings for Uttar Pradesh(West) Circle for Vodaphone, Idea or Airtel.

hello Shyam,

are you able to use GMAIL / MAIL / STOCKS / MARKET application using the Vodafone GPRS settings you have mentioned?

I am using the same on my HTC Hero. however, only the web browser works nothing else. When I am on Wifi, everything works fine.

Let me know

Thanks
