Hey Guys,

This is Jordan Sherer, the author of codename merlin (the windows taskpaper alternative).

We ARE currently in an invite only private beta, however, soon we’ll be releasing a public beta for everybody to try out. If you’d like to be informed first thing, go ahead and shoot me an email or signup for the private beta at http://widefido.com/

Take care!
Best,
Jordan

If this is for real then I cannot wait. I have written a taskpaper-esque access database which is quite cumbersome (as I am not a database writer). So I am continually scouring the net looking for something more slick for a Windows OS. I think I may have found it (judging by the screenshot)!

codename merlin is just the ticket. Between it and Tasko or a USB key, I can have my taskpaper wherever I want it.

Hey Guys,

Codename Merlin is definitely “for real”. It is currently in version 0.7 with a new release coming soon. We are gearing up and finalizing all of the features for our version 1.0 launch.

If you would like to try it out, email me at: jordan [at] widefido.com

Also, for those of you out there looking for another screen shot, check this out:

I cannot wait to see this. I love Taskpaper, but it’s lack of a windows client is causing me frustration. Any chance of a beta invite, Jordan? or even a release date? :)

Hi Adam,

Email me jordan [at] widefido.com and I’ll send you a beta invite.

We are currently at version 0.9. I’m doing the last tweaks to the code before pushing a 1.0 version. It should be some time in the next week or two. Stay tuned ;)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Best,
Jordan

Hey Zap,

The beta is coming to an end, with a public 1.0 release coming very shortly. I apologize for not getting you into the beta. But, if you’d like to check out the release candidate, email me and I’ll be happy to send you a copy.

Again, I apologize for the long wait in the beta test.

Best,
Jordan

Here’s a simple app I’ve been working on for the last year, Taskpaper+, runs in a browser using a local web server, so it works on Windows (and maybe Mac and Linux, never tried).
It is fast, simple and sticks to the main principles of the original taskpaper. See what you think.
