WiMAX in Bangalore

A call to the customer-care department at Reliance, gave me this fantastic news – WiMAX has been launched in Bangalore. The same day itself their Wireless broadband sales executives came to the house to explain the product and tariff plans.

Reliance WiMAX

I opted for a 300kbps / Unlimited ‘broadband’ connection. Other plans are :- 2Mbps/4GB, 600kbps/Unlimited. Mine would cost around Rs.1100/28USD(including the service tax etc).

The bandwidth capping just seems to take the excitement out of this 4G offer. WiMAX is capable of much more. They’ve promised the connection to be established in a couple of weeks. Since this is a wireless technology, there is an antenna to be placed which in turn will connect to a modem.

I hope Reliance will introduce the roaming WiMAX too in the near future. I will share my experience with the Reliance WiMAX with you for sure. Watch this space!

[UPDATE]
I have had enough with Reliance WiMAX. Their Service is completely unreliable. Despite repeated requests their service men never turned upon time. Those who came had no clues. The server disconnection issues still persist. Their total implementation of WiMAX is just too immature. WiMAX is all about higher bandwidth and better last mile connectivity. But Reliance is still learning their act.
I cannot afford to be a guinea pig any more. I have disconnected my subscriptions with Reliance WiMAX.
Your experience may be different though!
