I’ve had many occasions of data loss – both personal and corporate data. Those are dreaded moments. Though I am more than vigilant to take a regular backup, things do slip past. These are the times when a data recovery tool comes really handy. I’ve tried earlier some freeware tools with limited success. Here I am reviewing an enterprise class data recovery tool known as Active@ File Recovery 7.1.
I’ve had the Active@ File Recovery Demo Version to try. Though it is not useful as a full fledged recovery tool, its a precursor to the brighter things to come. It small (350KB) and allows you to check the integrity of the files which CAN be successfully restored further using a Standard, Professional, Internet or Enterprise Edition.
If your recovery tool throws you an unintelligible list of filenames and raw information its less than useful – as often happens with freeware ones. Active@ File Recovery proactively recognizes a strong detailed set of filetypes ranging from your lost picture files types to a visio diagram.
The user experience with Active@ File Recovery is miles ahead of any other ones I have used. It conveniently resembles the regular windows explorer. The professionalism does not stop there. I was amazed to see that it can run recoveries on RAID volumes. Now that’s enterprise class. For regular computer users, the recovery can be performed on FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, NTFS5, NTFS+EFS file systems. That covers your computer hard disk and a variety of external/internal storage devices.
I have seen beginners making some costly mistakes whenever they try out a Linux installation for the first time. The partitioning is a delicate job. If you mess, you lose oodles of data. Recovering from lost or damaged partitions is a near impossible task. Active@ File Recovery is featured to help you such siege situations. It can retrieve information even if your hard disk partition is damaged or lost. One notable thing in this context is , Active@ File Recovery has a component which exist as a bootable CD/DVD. That means even if your computer does not boot, a smaller version of Windows Vista can still be loaded using the provided disk – helping you conduct the data recovery. Please note that this is available only on the Enterprise version.
Visit the site to learn more about the professional capabilities of Active@ File Recovery. You have individual and corporate purchase options listed out there.

Nice tool.
Btw redesign looks good.
One thing I wanted to ask you, which statistics are you using in your about page for showing the hits in the advertisement section?
Glad you liked this new design!
Let me know if you would like to see any improvements too. The stats package I’ve used is AwStats.
I just went through hell this week after I unintentionally formatted a hard drive that had all my valuable data (tax returns, pictures, etc.). I had pretty much accepted the fact that my data was not going to be recovered after trying various tools. Lo and behold, Active File Recovery did an amazing job. I was able to recover EVERYTHING, and I had the ability to recover a bunch of files I had deleted prior to my meltdown (guess I shouldn’t be surprised).
In any case, I actually got a pirated version of this software, and it has been years since I have actually paid for any software I use. However, I will be buying a license [I promise] from Active just because I am so grateful for what Active File Recovery was able to do for me. What price can you put on your data?
