The following is something I posted in response to an Article on IbnLive.com on Bangalore’s Roads..
Here are some of the things to make life easier on Bangalore Road:-
1) Start early to office. We need to inculcate the habit of not just ‘getting up early’ , rather ‘Start working early’.
2) Keep your vehicle tidy. Service your bikes, Cars on time. Its astonishing to see latest 4-Strokes with smoke.
3) If you can find a routine timely bus which helps to commute directly to/from office – Opt for it.
4) Be attentive while driving. Please dont hurry to be the first ones on the Signal Line.
5) Two wheelers preferably drive in a single line, leaving the right side to Auto, Car and other vehicles
6) Make sure that you drive most of the time on a constant speed, anticipate the traffic in advance and slow down gradually.
7) Always use the indicators whenever you are taking a diversion. No one has the sixth sense to look inside your mind.
8) If you are in a hurry, tell the other party in advance that You may be late. Dont give false/immaterial promises.
9) When you are waiting for the Bus, wait in the shed provided. If its full, use the footpath by forming a line.
10) Instruct/Warn the Bus owners to stop very close the Bus waiting Shed, if they dont already do it.
11) No Big vehicles should go in parallel, blocking the road.
12) Never Block the road, even in case of arguments.
13) Police must strictly ban the slow moving vehicles/ carts / smoky autos during peak hours.
14) Reduce the usage of Horns.
15) The caller on your mobile should wait till you reach the destination safely. Never pickup. Keep it silent/Off while travelling – especially on two wheelers.
16) Respect Others. Your one mistake could cost you a lifetime of guilt and pain.
17) Be more accountable and tell your local representatives to come up with facts/figures about development in your area.
