IE 7 – First Experiences

July 29, 2005 · 2 comments

Got hold of a IE 7 Beta1 Release yesterday. It just seems to be like IE 6.5 or something! ;) Not defintely a major revision.

Could see some CSS improvements. The phishing catcher is good for newbie windows/internet users. The tabbed browsing with IE 7.0 is a disaster. Nowhere comparable to FF or Opera. If you want real tabs with IE itself, Go Maxton(prev. MyIE2)

There is no way i could rearrange the Order of Menu/Tab displays. Dont know yet if it supports Skins/Themes as FF does.

Considering that this is just a preview Beta, I would expect more features to be added with more customizations – Esp. in the ‘Search’ Area .

This one seems to be stable enuf and much faster than IE 6.

More later… :)

FireFox is miles ahead in terms of standard compliance and Addon availability. IE7 felt as fast Firefox.
In IE the Tabs and Other wistles feel like an ‘afterthought’ whereas in FF its just fits so naturally.
I had to uninstall and revert back to IE 6 because IE7 broke my Trillian IM.
